First things first, this is NOT a sponsored post. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this blog post are my own. Walmart has not paid me to write this. Now if someone from Walmart happens to come across this review and the spirit leads them to pay me for my opinion, feel free! My hands are lifted and ready to receive a financial blessing. Let’s get to it.

Word on the street is that Walmart Grocery Pickup is amazing. I’ve heard both good and bad things about it for about a year now. I’m very picky! In the past, I’ve used a grocery delivery service and I was highly disappointed with the service. When I learned about Walmart Grocery Pickup, I was hesitant to try. I based my hesitation on a prior service experience I encountered with another third party grocery delivery service.

This post provide my honest opinion of Walmart Grocery Pickup. The advantages and disadvantages of the service and finally my overall opinion if I would use them again in the future.

What is Walmart Grocery Pickup

Walmart Grocery Pickup is an online service that allows you to order groceries online, drive to your local Walmart and pick up the items without getting out of your car.

A few weeks ago, I had a baby (via c-section) and I also have a two-year-old. I needed to purchase groceries and the thought of walking through the store with two babies was a no go for me. I decided to give Walmart Grocery Pickup a try. At this point, I’m looking for something quick and convenient. If I can shop for groceries from home and pick them up without having to get out of the car. Sign me up!

Y’all let me tell you, it was easy. The best part was I didn’t have to search for an open lane or chase my son down the aisle. The only action required of me was to pull into a parking spot and pick up my groceries. Alright, Walmart – I’m convinced. This could be potentially saying sayonara to the days of playing peek-a-boo with my two-year-old as he navigates his way down every aisle!!! I’m definitely going to try this again. Advantages

  • It is free. There is no service charge or monthly subscription fees to use the service.
  • It is convenient. You can select when you want to pick up your groceries. When logging into the website or the app, you can select a 1-hour time frame that’s conducive for you. The days of searching for an open register, standing in a long line or chasing my son through the store are over!
  • Using the pickup service allows you to save money! The days of impromptu purchases are over…..kinda. If you do your due diligence by staying in the car once you arrive at the store.
  • Unlike other delivery/pickup services, all items are priced the same (regardless if you purchase in-store or through the delivery service).
  • Frequently purchased items can be saved to your favorites.
  • You can substitute items if the store is currently out of stock of a particular item.
  • The grocery pickup service can be used to purchase select items outside of grocery items. Such as toiletries, cleaning supplies, and baby items. I needed a case of Clorox wipes and was thrilled to know that I could include them with this order.

Disadvantages

  • Each Walmart store varies from one to the other. Some are better than others! I had one associate greet me when I arrived. However, the associate who delivered my groceries didn’t say two words to me and was circling the parking lot looking for me.
  • You cannot use coupons, WIC or EBT. In fact, you cannot use cashback apps like Fetch Rewards, Ibotta or Checkout 51.
  • The app has a slight delay. The notification to alert the store that I arrived, did not appear on my phone until I left the store.
  • When unloading the car, I noticed that I had one bag for each item. This is a little excessive. In fact, I had a few bags rip on me as walked into the house. Thankfully they weren’t fragile items.
  • All Walmart stores are not created equal.  I’m sandwiched between two Walmart stores. The store that’s to the north of my house isn’t always prompt with their service. I tend to use the store that’s located on the South end because the associates are always super friendly and they tend to be a bit more organized.

What’s the Verdict?

I will DEFINITELY use Walmart Grocery Pickup again! I had a good experience.

As a mom of two, this service comes in handy. It’s hard enough to pack my car with two babies and it’s harder having to find a grocery cart to place them in and keeping them entertained while shopping. Knowing that I can outsource my grocery shopping is a plus in my book.

Walmart Grocery Pickup makes it easy to shop without spending additional money and it allows me to save time. I really like that my two-year-old can continue to play with his toys in the backseat without being interrupted. He does not like to leave his toys in the car when we go into the store.

The next time I use the service, I will schedule my pick up time in the morning. I’ve found that when I tend to make my runs in the morning everything tends to run smoothly and everyone is in good spirits.
